Lucky by V. R. Street is a captivating and compelling women’s fiction novel that had me hooked from the very first chapter. Impressively well-written, it takes the reader on a turbulent ride of highs and lows with some humor and amazing surprises along the way.
When Kat decides to buy a Powerball ticket on a whim, her hopes and dreams of having a baby and a family get put on hold when her and her star-struck hubby win the big jackpot. Her life gets turned upside down when they sign up to be on camera for a reality show to document their transformation to a new rich and lavish life. It seems to be what her not-so-great actor husband Michael has always wanted, especially for his career and at first, Kat thinks it’s the answer to her prayers. But after seeing things in a different light she is not so sure if this recent luxurious lifestyle is all that it’s cracked up to be. She is not sure if this posh life is really what she wanted once she finally gets a taste of what it’s really like to always have the camera on her, along with the media and the public watching her every move.
Lucky is a fantastic read that kept me on the edge of my seat with the secret twist in the plotline that I was definitely not ready for, but wow was I so surprised! From the first page to the very last, I was hooked on this in-depth delight that made me laugh and cry, feeling all the emotions! I really enjoyed how the characters came to life and their personalities made both Kat and Michael so relatable and realistic. Especially in this Hollywood age we live in now, it really made me understand why each individual in the story progressed as they did as the story unfolded and moved along.
