Have you ever wondered where the term “bookworm” came from? Well, wonder no more: It is all because a little worm named Benjamin had an appetite, not for rotten apples or mulch, but for books—lots of them!
Benjamin is not like the other worms. He doesn’t care about worming through dirt and munching on rotten produce; all he wants to do is read! This sets him apart from his fellow worms, but he doesn’t let that discourage him. He finds some bug friends and makes his way to the Library of Congress, where he can finally satisfy his voracious appetite for reading.
Books For Benjamin is a very creative and cute story that encourages children to love books. It is also a great example of how being different is okay and that being unique is valuable and can lead to great accomplishments. The whole story is very original and has absolutely charming illustrations to go with it. It is an imaginative way to explain the term “bookworm” and to encourage children to develop a love for reading. The idea that a worm could develop a love for books and devour them with such enthusiasm is a charming and whimsical concept that is sure to capture the attention of young readers.
