I was born and raised near New York City, met a Sicilian-American not long after graduating from high school, and spent my Sunday afternoons at Grandma’s house. Soon married, we both earned undergraduate and graduate degrees while working and raising our three children. I eventually became a professor, and then an artist.
Our family has returned several times to Italy and Sicily, has lived in Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru, and now resides in the state of Delaware.
I have published nonfiction books under my professor name, but Touch is my first novel. Rosa and Tony will return soon in their next book, Traffic.
The learner novels in my drawer concern Latino people struggling in the worlds of rural violence back home and cartel extortion on their way north. Italianos and Latinos. The U.S. and Latin America. “Write what you know.”
