The development of the characters is genius. From the Black Saker Falcon with its crystal blue eyes to the wizards, warlocks, and green-eyed witches keeping the court in their Secret Society of Sports Wizards. Their magical apparitions unfold into an amazing story of passages and triumphant.
The author’s background as an ad man shows up brilliantly in the intertwining of real and fantasy worlds. From the habits of ad executives in the late ’70s, to get their creative juices flowing, to the inter-agency politics fueled by jealousy and envy of those climbing the ranks, it adds to the story’s believability.
There’s fierce competition in both worlds for a prize. In the Secret Society of Sports Wizards, one wizard competes against another for the much-desired prize of sitting upon the Sec’rgarlar Taxti, The Wizard’s Throne.
