Cold Warrior by Robert Tucker
During the 1970s and 80s, the Soviet Union penetrated the corporate economy and financial systems of the United States to engage in industrial espionage.
Cold Warrior is the story of Kasia Kerenski, a street mime who is “discovered” to work as a Hollywood actress. Coerced into becoming a double agent for the KGB and CIA, she is caught between two opposing international clandestine plots, one to discover a mole in the CIA and an attempt by the KGB to foment regime change through a revolution in Pinochet’s Chile. Kasia struggles against her handlers and others out to exploit her artificially created celebrity status. Her marriage to film director, Michael Sloan, takes her to a production in South America that is not what it appears to be.
At turns a romance and an espionage thriller, her layered story explores the roles and cultural images of women and strikes at the heart of corporate financial corruption, global competition, and ruthless cold war political intrigue
Cold Warrior by Robert Tucker is an epic read filled with drama, suspense and electrifying tension!
Cold Warrior begins in 1957, as Soviet agents Vasily Kerenski and his wife Nadia are sent to the United States under deep cover. Their mission is to assimilate into American society while raising children who will be born as U.S. citizens, giving the Soviet Union an inside advantage. Tasked with blending into their new life while secretly maintaining their Russian ties, they must teach their children both English and Russian, though they are unaware of the larger consequences their actions will have. For now, their transition from Russia to Canada and finally to the U.S. seems to be going smoothly, and they have no reason to suspect their lives will take any unexpected turns as they follow their orders and keep their true identities hidden. They remain largely untouched until their daughter goes to college and both the KGB and the CIA pull her into a dilemma she never thought she’d have to face and solve: Does she choose herself, her family, or her country?
