Once again Queenie and Sybil, the psychic sisters in this their third adventure become embroiled in a chilling mystery. Sybil and Queenie, still recovering from her illness, visit their sister in law who has recently moved into an apartment in a renovated Victorian building and during this weekend break bear witness to a malevolent ghost attack a small child. They come to realize that this evil entity has a sinister plan to steal the child’s soul and with the help of her aunt they begin to uncover the truth surrounding the old building and the significance of a murder that happened 150 years previously.

While they are there, a small child is attacked by a malicious spirit. The spirit is after the child’s soul, and the two sisters begin to investigate the history of the old building. As the malevolent spirit tries to steal the child’s soul and bring her down, the two sisters learn of a murder that happened 150 years ago. They also discover the tragic truth about the fate of the children of the old workhouse.

The Haunting of Stoke Water by Elizabeth Andrews is one scary story. It is filled with murder, ghosts and mystery. It’s about an old building that is filled with evil spirits. The evil presence tries to drown the young child and steal her soul. The question is, will the psychic sisters help to unravel the mystery and save the child?

The Haunting of Stoke Water by Elizabeth Andrews is a real horror story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. This is a story made of nightmares. I was fully captivated by it and couldn’t put it down. I read it through quickly, as it’s a rather short read. I was completely caught up in the storyline. It is well written and crafted, laced with fear and horror. Readers will be enthralled and love the apprehension and uneasiness that this scary, bone-chilling story will bring them. It is creepy, terrifying and eerie.

The characters are awesome and really add a sense of alarm to the storyline. They are well developed and the dialog between them is realistic and fitting. The descriptions are filled with terrifying accuracy and visual clarity. I could totally picture the scenes and felt like I was there watching on as the story progressed. The psychic investigative work is interesting and gripping.

If you love horror stories about evil entities that are trying to kill people and the realm of the psychic, then The Haunting of Stoke Water by Elizabeth Andrews is right up your alley. Highly recommended by Chick Lit Cafe.
