The Dahlonega Sisters: The Gold Miner Ring by Diane M How
Three Sisters…
One Mysterious Ring….
Too Many Unexplained Misfortunes…
A teenage transgression burdens the superstitious and eccentric Mutzi McGilvray. Nothing in her life has been right since she stole a unique ring intended for her sophisticated, older sister, Rose Ellen.
Convinced the ring is cursed, and fearing her days are limited, Mutzi’s efforts to dispose of the vexatious object fail. When Marge, her perfect-at-everything twin, accidentally comes into possession of it, a series of unexplained mishaps generates turmoil and forces Mutzi to admit her wrongdoing. The mysterious origin of the ring creates more conflict and doubt, testing the three sisters’ bond. None of them are prepared for the unexpected journey that follows.
Join the delightful McGilvray Sisters on a light-hearted journey through the quaint, historic town of Dahlonega, as they try to unravel the mysterious origin of a ring closely tied to the first Gold Rush Days Festival in 1954.

What an absolute pleasure it was to read The Dahlonega Sisters by Diane M How. This moving family drama, laced with mystery, is a beautiful, touching romance and a lot more besides! Diane M How brings to life such wonderful characters that if they were real people, I would love to meet them.
Set in the historic town of Dahlonega in Georgia, this is a feel-good, warm your heart story about three sisters. Small town life with nosy neighbors, friendly vicar and that secure feeling that comes from knowing you’re living in a safe place. Here, lost purses are returned still fully intact of all their contents. Here, the town’s folk pull together events that raise money and keep the community close. Here, is a place I would love to live!
Mutzi McGilvray has a secret she has kept from her sisters for fifty years, the burden of which is finally becoming too heavy to carry. Oh, how I loved Mutzi! She is feisty, individual and most definitely unique. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a character so much in all my years of reading. She made me chuckle along with her comments and attitude. One of my favorite comments being after a sharing of thankfulness from everyone present for Christmas dinner: ‘All this touchy-feely stuff makes me nervous. I’m grateful for all the food Marge cooked! Let’s eat!’ From the first page of this book I knew I was going to love this story, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Diane M How had me crying happy tears in the last chapters. This surprised me because it’s an upbeat mystery that involves a ring that may be cursed. As I pondered my sudden rush of emotions, I realized it was because the story was so sweet and touching, and I’ve got to be honest and say I’m a sucker for happy endings.
