There comes a time when being terribly lost without a clue and having the proverbial black cloud over one’s head must come to an end. It doesn’t matter how screwed up your life has been with a rough childhood or now as an adult. I have learned that our life experiences, no matter how terrible, don’t have to shape who we are or who we become. For instance, I personally was in and out of foster homes from about age four to eighteen. I had to overcome tremendous obstacles to bring this book to you! The number one lesson for everybody is:

When you get knocked down, get up again and stand a little taller than you did before until your foundation is unbreakable!!

“Something More”… where is it? I think everybody at one point or another has asked themselves this. Looking up at the stars in wonderment at a very young age is where it all begins. All beings are aware of their surroundings and figure out really quickly something is wrong here on this beautiful planet Earth. There are plenty of indicators, such as: Violence and war, domination and hate, racial profiling and human suppression, working for survival and fighting over resources and or the need for money/debt creation. These things are part of our collective third dimensional consciousness and are no longer necessary as we advance/mature together. . . .

So, what are we looking for? What is the true reality? How can we better ourselves? How do we awaken to and find our true self again? Where is the love, joy, grace, morals, compassion, unity we know are the truth behind this existence? The most important question for us all, to ask ourselves is:

How do we break through the false reality that we have created for ourselves and the planet and keep our light shining, never to be hidden under veils of illusion again?

We will explore this thing called life through our own self-realization, together, and find some answers to these questions!

I think we all can agree that the past year has been full of challenges, but it has also created opportunities for those of us who wished to become more introspective and take stock of our lives. Coming Out of the Illusion: Realizing the Real You by Christopher Michael Link is the book I wished I’d read a year ago. It is chock full of the basic information about being a more aware and loving person – information we intrinsically know but need to be reminded of regularly.

There are many self-help, philosophical, religious, and spiritual books on the market, but I found this one to be especially interesting. Mr. Link has melded many of these philosophies and spiritual practices and created a holistic approach to help the reader get off the path of negativity and on to the road to all that is positive. The tenets outlined in the book are presented as options, rather than absolutes, as the author points out that each person’s path is individual and needs to be discovered through their own experiences, rather than others. The concepts are easy to understand and the writing style is light and fun.

There were a number of ideas shared that really resonated with me. I especially appreciated what Mr. Link had to say in the Success chapter, having personally dealt with “imposter syndrome” for so long. He wrote that we are “…masters at creating problems where none exist.” I’m guilty of that! He also went on to say “…there aren’t any problems. Only situations, opportunities, and challenges from which we learn and grow.” This is so true, and because he puts it so simply, it’s an easy concept for me to hang on to as I move forward in my growth. In addition to success, the author covers energy, health, wellbeing, passion, spirituality, love, truth, freedom, wisdom, and life. He also delves into the deeper aspects of enlightenment and spirituality, so there is something here for everyone, no matter what areas of your life you’re looking to improve. Matched with each of the chapters is a wealth of resources that will allow the reader to learn more on their own.

Whether you are new to self-reflection or have been practicing for a while, you will find something of value in this book.
