Her life in San Francisco and Red River are skillfully woven together through her experiences. The poems contained in the journal are compelling with captivating imagery and engaging rhythms. Suspense arises in the book as Maddy wonders about the meaning of each poem and decides to find out who wrote them. Red River is fascinating with a wonderful community and picturesque landscapes that form an enchanting setting for the story. The book’s pace is swift, and still includes enough information to describe its beautiful scenes and characters in detail. The romance in the story is authentic and its action scenes are tensive and unexpected. Marie Montine is a masterful storyteller whose incredible writing drew me in and held my attention from the start to the end.
