“One must be careful practicing deception. The easiest to deceive will always be one’s self.”
The skilled thieves of the Takers Guild plot to overthrow the kingdoms of Baelon, but when their plans are thwarted by a prescient woman and her brooding daughter, they must turn to the League of Assassins for assistance. Meanwhile, retired royal guard Rolft Aerns returns to the palace of King Axil with an old score to settle. When they all cross paths–and swords–in the dark shadows of Fostead’s south end, nothing is as it seems and the murder count rises quickly.
The long fingers of the Guild reach everywhere, and one overly ambitious thief is all it takes to spark a chain of events that will haunt the world of Baelon for many years to come.
Six Moons, Seven Gods is book one in The Legends of Baelon.
Robert A. Walker’s captivating novel, Six Moons, Seven Gods, is an enthralling medieval tale. With some amazing elements of fantasy and a story that has all the right ingredients for intrigue and increasing excitement, saying it is a noteworthy piece of fiction would be a huge understatement.
This story doesn’t revolve around one character, but many incredible and interesting characters which drives the story forward keeping the reader turning the pages quickly with interest, excitement, and anticipation. There’s Sibil, the beautiful daughter of a woman who can suddenly see the future—her own future holding much more than she could have anticipated. There are her twin friends, Theos and Tristan. The latter, whom she loves dearly—though he doesn’t know it yet. There’s their bereaved King Axil and a pair of murderous villains who are killing their way through townships. All of their stories connect in a fascinating, compelling way. However, to see exactly how imaginatively and brilliantly the author managed to creatively tie it all together, you’ll have to read this novel. And we promise, you will love it like we do!
Author Robert A. Walker writes from many different characters’ perspectives, which is difficult and extremely impressive. Even more impressive is his ability to combine their individual stories with the skill that can only come from an advanced and experienced writer. The story is described with such creative vivid expression that it feels like a real trip to the Middle Ages or a similar time, with some welcome fantasy here and there. It is very well-written, imaginative, and entertaining and the author’s brilliant thought-provoking narrative perfectly sets the story up for a sequel.
A beloved kingdom at risk with unlikely heroes, this is a slow burn read that is full of murder, mystery, peril, high stakes, and romance. Six Moons, Seven Gods by Robert A. Walker is one of the most sophisticated works of fantasy and romance -that we’ve ever seen. Highly recommended by Chick Lit Book Café. Book read and reviewed by Micah Giordonela for CLC.
