“A sweeping coming of age story full of adventure, romance, and dark humor.” – Booklife

“An enthralling novel of friendship and betrayal, Seven Perfect Days explores the bonds of friendship and loyalty. The novel has a character-driven plot, featuring a cast of complex yet intriguing characters who draw you into their world. Francesca Vespa’s narrative is a balanced blend of dark drama, emotions, humor, and wittiness. While the narrative is almost memoir-like and poetic, it is fascinating and engaging to read. Despite some parts seeming drawn out, the reader will be absorbed in the subsequent events. Seven Perfect Days is a heartwarming and heartbreaking story woven together with themes of friendship, betrayal, and forgiveness. You’ll enjoy this book if you like humorous dramas full of emotional rollercoasters and culture shocks, and are open-minded about gay relationships and sexual content. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the ride!” – Reader’s Favourite

“Built on the premise that ‘sometimes your friends break your heart the most,’ Francesca Vespa’s Seven Perfect Days grapples with this ugly truth in several contexts. The quirky, witty, and poignant writing makes for an especially engaging read.” – Indiereader

“A medley of friendship and globetrotting love, Francesca Vespa’s SEVEN PERFECT DAYS introduces protagonist Maggie Lomax coping with the aftermath of a profound high school trauma, triggered by the enigmatic disappearance of foreign student Adam Moon. In a voyage of introspection, Maggie encounters both new horizons and distressing echoes of the past. Vespa’s narrative style, with its mixture of dark humor, romance, and soulful self-analysis, emerges as an enchanting odyssey through the maze of human (dis)connection and the alchemy of emotional pliability.” – IR Discovery Awards

Sometimes your friends break your heart the most.

Maggie missed the most horrific moment of her life, but her eccentric best friend Alex is a constant reminder of it. High school is over, and she would give anything to clean up the mess left behind: lie… cheat… betray… kill… although… maybe not kill… That’s a bit dramatic.

Things look grim, until she meets Adam Moon, a handsome foreign student and sweet, kind soul, who is just as messed up as her. Only now, he is missing, and nobody knows what happened to him. A strange offer from an old high school acquaintance to go abroad might just be what she needs. New sights and sounds may help get her mind off it, but the past has a way of catching up with her, and so does Alex.

She might get her man, but it might be at the worst possible time for both of them.

CLBC Book Review

Written in a strong and appealing voice, Seven Perfect Days by Francesca Vespa is packed full of love, longing, and suspense.

Francesca Vespa’s story is like a perfect tapestry woven together with a profound, clever and touching narrative filled with emotion, wit and humor,  along with a lot of drama. It is captivating, adventurous, suspenseful and fascinating to read as her writing style and narrative also flows imaginatively and sensitively with a style of expression that brings on an array of emotions while reading and as the story progressed, I was strangely completely engaged and enthralled – wanting to read on and absorb every word and the entire compelling story.

Maggie Lomax, coping with the aftermath of a tragedy, is longing to find her equilibrium again.  Even though high school is over, the aftermath still lingers, and Maggie is willing to do anything to clean up the mess and get to move on.  The old adage “sometimes your friends break your heart the most” is all too true for Maggie who’s eccentric friend creates a constant reminder of Maggie’s worst moments.  Then, Maggie meets Adam Moon, a foreign exchange student whose sweet demeanor is a balm for Maggie’s pain.  However, when Adam goes missing, Maggie’s ability to cope is challenged, even as she travels abroad.  Will another country help her heal or will the past catch up to her?

Composed in a wry, humorous, snarky writing style, Seven Perfect Days captures the teenage personality with a keen eye for detail.  I liked the back-and-forth narration as the chapters switched between Maggie, Adam, and various other characters.  Francesca’s use of Maggie’s voice through her journal also added nicely to the narrative.  The change in tone for each character helped keep this story balanced and engaging.  I felt the story itself was unique and offered a lot of content that will keep readers connected and guessing.  Furthermore, the style Francesca chose for this story added nicely to the narrative as well—each chapter is shorter in nature with an almost memoir style.  Some chapters feel poetic while others have a clear darkness woven throughout.

Written for any engaged, open-minded reader, Seven Perfect Days by Francesa Vespa is an intriguing, complex story filled with trauma, suspense, heartbreak, and friendship.  As Francesca teaches us, sometimes those relationships you’ve always counted on just aren’t what they seem to be. There is alot of wisdom and life experience written into this book making it so thought-provoking and enjoyable as we relate in many ways and learn from it too. I just loved this story. Francesa Vespa is an amazing writer and very expressiven with the perfect amount of detail in her descriptions – bringing the scenery and everything about the setting, characters and situations to life causing me to be fully engaging form start to finish. It is also the perfect example of what you see isn’t always what you get.  A highly absorbing and satisfying read—Chick Lit Book Cafe can’t recommend it highly enough. Book reviewed by Mary Rosenthal for CLBC.-Multi-Genre LIterary Reviews.
