There, he finds barf-smelling trolls and an unforgettable battle that will launch him into his ultimate destiny. He resists the truth at first—that he can really become a man in this strange new place—but soon learns that he is gifted and capable.
Tim Wright has done an excellent job with his middle-grade adventure, which is tailor-made to captivate the imaginations of boys. He includes all the things they like—humor, adventure, and even superheroes. He also includes some creative ways to help his young readers learn some large vocabulary words. This not only cleverly enriches the reading experience but also fosters a love for learning in his youthful readership. Toby’s character is also completely relatable. He is a protagonist whose struggles and triumphs mirror those of any young reader, making him instantly endearing.
Tim Wright’s approach to writing is amazingly spot-on and Toby’s escapade in RiverHome is an unforgettable journey filled with laughter and boundless excitement.
